Development Opportunities

Charlottetown Power Rings Program

Power Rings is a program proudly developed, endorsed, and hosted by the Charlottetown Ringette Association to give your child a head start on the season.

Running each September, the program focuses on ring control, skating, agility, and game play — key skills to help athletes hit the ice with confidence.

All proceeds from Power Rings go directly back into our Association to support player development, programs, tournaments, and other essential costs.

Plus, goaltenders registered with our Association who participate in Power Rings are eligible for a rebate to help them build their skating skills.

Charlottetown Goaltender Development Program

The Charlottetown Ringette Association proudly offers a FREE bi-weekly goaltender development session throughout the ringette season.

Led by Deanna Malone, with support from other experienced goaltenders, these sessions help your young goalie build fundamental goaltending techniques and skills in a supportive environment.

This program is free for all players registered with our Association. We also encourage coaches to participate — on or off the ice — to learn how to better incorporate goaltender development into their regular team practices.

The programs listed below are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Charlottetown Ringette Association; however, we believe it’s important for parents to have access to information about additional opportunities to help develop their child’s skating and ringette skills.

Each program is unique, offering different training, development, and social experiences to help build confidence and enhance on-ice performance.

We encourage you to take a moment to read through each option and visit their website or Facebook page to learn more.

If you know of a program that would be a good fit for ringette players and you’d like it included here, please send your request to Shad@CharlottetownRingette.com.

Skate Canada Programs: CanPowerSkate and CanPowerSkate’s Pre-Power

CanPowerSkate is a ten hour action packed, high energy, instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance.  Skills, techniques, and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations.  It is an excellent complement for those athletes playing on hockey or ringette teams.  Its unique skill award program provides incentives and motivation for skaters to continue and achieve.

CanPowerSkates’s Pre-Power is designed for young skaters, approximately four to sick years of age who can stand up on skates and move forward (shuffle, walk, or glide) who may not be ready for CanPowerSkate Level 1.  Pre-Power helps develop basic skating abilities in a power skating-specific environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility skills.

Full hockey/ringette gear is required. Programs are First Come First Served Basis and run primarily out of Simmons Arena in Charlottetown and Cody Banks in Sherwood.
